An tUachtarán / President Dr. James Browne:

"Tugann an 15ú Féile Múscailt cuireadh do gach mac léinn, comhalta foirne, alumni agus don phobal sult a bhaint as seachtain de na hamharcealaíona, cainteanna, ceol, seónna, taibhithe agus amhránaíocht ar an gcampas. I measc na mbuaicphointí beidh an taispeántas mór le rá ‘Dreaming Vessels’ le Craobh na Gaillimhe de Chuallacht Deilte Adhmaid na hÉireann, ócáid bailithe airgid Fhleadh na Gaillimhe agus seó Conor McGrady ‘Retreat’. I measc bhuaicphointí na mac léinn beidh ‘Cabaret’ á léiriú ag GUMS, Féile Dhomhanda Cheoil & Bhia agus an tAonach Siamsaíochta Victeoiriach. Is í an Oifig Ealaíon agus Amharclannaíochta in OÉ Gaillimh a eagraíonn Múscailt."

"The 15th Múscailt Festival invites all students, staff, alumni and the public to enjoy a week of visual art, talks, music, spectacle and performance on campus. Highlights include the flagship exhibition ‘Dreaming Vessels’ by the Galway Chapter of the Irish Woodturners’ Guild, the Fleadh na Gaillimhe Fundraiser and Conor McGrady’s show ‘Retreat’. Student highlights include ‘Cabaret’ by GUMS, the World Music & Food Festival and the Victorian Fun Fair. Múscailt is organised by NUI Galway’s Arts & Theatre Office. "

Oifigeach Ealaíona / Arts Officer Fionnuala Gallagher:

"‘Ar Foluain’ is ea téama na bliana seo, agus cuireann sé i gcuimhneamh dúinn gur féidir linn éalú ó ghnáthnósanna agus strus an tsaoil trí bhlaiseadh a fháil de na healaíona cruthaitheacha agus go bhféadfadh sé gur tús le haistear nua a bheadh ann chomh maith. Tá fáilte roimh chách a bheith páirteach.

Reáchtálann an Oifig Ealaíon agus Amharclannaíochta taispeántais rialta le healaíontóirí nua agus seanbhunaithe, agus tugann Múscailt deis iontach dúinn iad seo a chur chun cinn. Déanann an Oifig bainistíocht chomh maith ar Bhailiúchán mór Ealaíne OÉ Gaillimh, is féidir an bailiúchán sin a fheiceáil ar líne ar www.nuigalway.ie/arts_office/art_database. Faoi láthair, táimid ag cuardach dealbha nua le cur amuigh faoin aer ar champas OÉ Gaillimh, chun airéine ealaíonta a dhéanamh den áit le go mbainfidh cách taitneamh as."

"Our theme this year, ‘Float Away’,  reminds us that a brush with the creative arts can be a sweet release from the routine and pressures of everyday life and may be the dawning of a new adventure. Everyone is welcome to participate.

The Arts & Theatre Office hosts regular exhibitions by new and established artists and Múscailt offers a perfect opportunity to promote these. It also manages the extensive NUI Galway Art Collection, which can be viewed online at www.nuigalway.ie/arts_office/art_database. Presently, we are pursuing new outdoor sculptures for NUI Galway campus, to make the campus an artistic arena for all to enjoy."
