FÁILTE - WELCOME

An tUachtarán / President Dr. James Browne

Fáilte romhaibh go léir chuig Féile Múscailt in OÉ Gaillimh. Deis atá san Fhéile Ealaíon seo do mhic léinn, do chomhaltaí foirne, do alumni agus don phobal sult agus taitneamh a bhaint as cúig lá de cheol, drámaíocht agus ealaín ar an gcampas. Tá saorchead isteach ag na himeachtaí ar fad beagnach.

The 10th Múscailt Arts Festival at NUI Galway invites all students, staff, alumni and the public to enjoy music, performance and art on campus. I am proud to show off our new Student Centre, the Bailey Allen Wing, which will be the central focus of Múscailt 2010. This year we have many special guests, including Alice Maher, James Lisney, Marco Paoletti, Aideen Barry, John Colleary, Bubba Shakespeare and Kathleen O’Rourke, all aiming to inspire us. Student Highlights include The Wiz, at the Black Box, and new shows from Jugglingsoc, Comedysoc, Artsoc, Cumann Drámaíochta and many more. Almost all events are free. All welcome. Múscailt is organised by the Arts Office at NUI Galway.

Oifigeach Ealaíona / Arts Officer Fionnuala Gallagher

In ainneoin go bhfuil airgead gann agus cúrsaí eacnamaíochta mar atá, tá sé tábhachtach ealaíontóirí nuálacha, a thugann dúshlán múnlaí seanchaite, a spreagadh, idir iad siúd a oibríonn trí mheán an Bhéarla agus trí mheán na Gaeilge. Is mór an t-údar sásaimh dúinn go bhfuil ealaíontóirí a bhfuil an-bhorradh faoina saothar páirteach sa 10ú Féile Múscailt.

In these financially tight times, it is important and fulfilling to encourage emerging performers and artists, working in both Irish and English, who are edgy and original. The artists featured in this year’s 10th Múscailt Festival are definitely making waves, and we are proud of our programme.
